PHOBIAS

Phobias are irrational fears of certain situations or objects.  The degree to which they limit our lives varies.  They may be preventing us from doing things we'd like to do and would otherwise enjoy - for example fear of flying can prevent us from visiting friends or relatives or taking our dream holiday.  Spatial or social phobias may be causing severe disruption to our whole life.

Usually phobias can be traced both to the moment when the fear was first experienced and to the subsequent time when this fear was reawakened.  These may be separate events or parts of the same event.

Single phobias are usually completely eliminated in one, two or three sessions.  More complex phobias involve multiple fears and generally are associated with unresolved emotional complications and anxieties.  These phobias may take more sessions to resolve because the underlying states may need to be addressed.
